Competitive Training Programs
For fencers who have completed the intermediate class, Seacoast Fencing provides training programs for three different age groups. These programs concentrate on the skills, attitude, and competitive development that prepare you for your future in the sport of fencing - and for life!
Junior/Adult Training: For adults and juniors fourteen and older who have completed the intermediate class. You meet one to three times a week, taking 25 minute physical conditioning and 25 minute footwork sessions, followed by an hour of bouting and drilling. Less experienced fencers take the advanced class once a week. Serious adult, junior, and youth competitors participating in local and national USFA meets can add weekly private lessons with a coach of their choice. These fencers need all their own equipment.
Youth Training: For children ages twelve to fourteen. This program is designed to develop (in a supportive setting) sportsmanship, coordination, and fencing skills. Youths meet one to two times a week for 75 minutes, and participate in club & USFA competitions. Serious young fencers may also take an additional day of competitive training and private lessons. These fencers need all their own equipment.
Children’s Training: For children ages seven to twelve. The program develops (in a supportive setting) fencing skills, coordination, and sportsmanship. They meet once a week for fifty minutes, and each will get a five minute private lesson. They can join the youth training for an additional day. They also participate in club & USFA competitions. The fencers need their own glove, foil, underarm protector, and body cord (for competitions). Masks and jackets can be rented.
